Overview

The Head Gerber Pattern Cutter is responsible for ensuring the sample room works efficiently and productively, and that product quality is of the highest standard. The role manages a team of 2 full time seamstresses, 1 Gerber/Flat Pattern Cutter and several regular Freelance Pattern Cutters and Interns.

 

The successful candidate will be proficient in both Gerber and flat pattern cutting with exceptional technical ability specialising in Women’s Runway RTW working across a commercial and creative runway collection.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the designers to bring 2d designs to life creatively.
  • Produce clean and accurate patterns to a professional/factory standard.
  • Assist and guide junior pattern cutters where necessary.
  • Demonstrate excellent skill levels in flat pattern cutting.
  • Responsible for consistent and accurate use of Gerber software.
  • Support the design and product development process with extensive technical knowledge on how to solve construction obstacles and finishes.
  • Attend all FTS meetings to ensure the technical aspect of the garment is taken into consideration when fabrics are allocated.
  • Work with Product Development to agree and book freelance support for technical team to ensure critical path deadlines can be met.
  • Develop and expand the quality standards within the technical team ensuring consistency.
  • Manage a team of pattern cutters, machinists and interns to achieve high performance standards.
  • Manage the Sample room budget to ensure budgeted costs are adhered to.
  • Ensure in-house samples are produced in line with the critical path.
  • Work closely with Design and PD team to ensure continuity in garment construction.
  • Attend all Development and Production fittings.
  • Coordinate creation of couture and VIP garments.

Qualifications

  • Senior or Head Pattern Cutter with a minimum 4 years’ experience in Women’s Runway RTW.
  • Highly technical flat and Gerber pattern cutting skills in Women’s Runway RTW fashion.
  • Gerber proficiency essential.
  • An understanding of digital printing, embellishment and fabric production processes.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to guide and manage a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Dedicated, diplomatic, professional and committed.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tenacious, assertive and determined attitude.
  • An enthusiastic, self-motivated and positive personality.
