As Garment Technologist you will be responsible for managing the day to day technical requirements of samples in line with the critical path working across women’s multi-product casualwear, soft separates, denim and outerwear liaising daily with the design team, sample room, buying hubs, customers and factories in Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh to ensure development samples meet quality, style and fit expectations. Customers include: ASOS, ASDA, M&S and Tesco.


  • Development of garments from design/order stage to production and delivery ensuring they conform to customer expectations.
  • Prepare technical workbooks for the factories to include final spec sheet and photos with make details for the factory ensuring they are both accurate and complete.
  • Risk assess styles for fabric and construction.
  • Internally fit product: measure, assess and fit samples on the stand prior to fit sessions, making notes on specifications and discrepancies.
  • Liaise with the factories to ensure pattern amendments are carried out accurately and to the critical path.
  • Organise, attend and participate in customer fit meetings.
  • Ensure accuracy of information and translate comments for factories to easily understand.
  • Ensure factories produce and maintain garment specifications and customer grading rules.
  • Check and approve graded specs with factories and amend where required.
  • Input information for size charts.
  • Monitor and update the critical path for all styles.
  • Access and update online Customer Web Portals in relation to fits.
  • Ensure samples meet the correct design aesthetic from sketch to reality.
  • Liaise with the Fabric department regarding test approvals and wash/care instructions.
  • Check fabrics and trims on Production Samples to ensure they adhere to approved quality and appearance. 
  • Continually assess quality levels and construction techniques, ensuring factories adhere to customer specifications, ensure that sealing samples follow retailer guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relations with the design team and customers.
  • Ensure that factories follow retailer guidelines and update the QA manual as required.


  • Garment Technologist with at least 4 years’ experience in women’s fast fashion.
  • Experience in multi-product womenswear including soft separates, casualwear and outerwear.
  • Ability to manage the sealing process through to sign off and Gold Seal.
  • Strong fashion eye with the aim of completing most of the work before sending out sealing samples.
  • Excellent understanding of production requirements from a commercial and design perspective.
  • Detail driven, thorough and accurate.
  • Highly organised skills with sound knowledge of the critical path.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively under pressure in a demanding fast paced environment.
  • Proactive with the initiative to ensure the technical and sealing process runs smoothly.
  • Computer literate MS Word and Excel.
