Overview

The Trims Buyer manages the entire buying cycle and testing cycle for all bulk production trims with responsibility for ensuring that trims are produced at the right cost, level of quality and are delivered on time to factories. The ideal applicant will have a proven track record in the buying of trims for bulk production working to customer approval standards. The role is working for one of the UK’s largest multi-product clothing suppliers and the ideal Trims Buyer will have a minimum 2-3 year’s supplier based experience.

Responsibilities

  • Order labels, tickets, packaging and trims according to the ‘Order By Date’ on the customer orders report.
  • Regularly monitor the critical path and chase any missing information.
  • Approve artwork, proofs for labels, tickets and stickers received from suppliers.
  • Approve pre-production samples received from suppliers.
  • Ensure products are tested to customers required testing standards.
  • Resolve any issues that may arise whether delivery or quality related.
  • Update the Trims/Label Issue reports with any issues that may need to be debited.
  • Resolve discrepancies on invoices with the accounts department.
  • Benchmarking between different suppliers regularly to make comparisons and achieve the best price without compromising quality.
  • Liaise with logistics on trim shipping.
  • Check all invoices and pass to Finance.
  • Inform factories of trim status.

Qualifications

  • Trims Buyer with 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Able to work on own initiative and as a Team Leader.
  • IT proficiency including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
