  • Overview

    The Fabric Developer is responsible for the research and development of fabrics for the Women’s RTW collection working from initial concept through to production ensuring the accurate flow of data and tracking of sample lengths in line with the development critical path. The successful candidate will have a minimum 3 years’ experience in fabric buying and development for the luxury market, with expertise in fabric sourcing, counter-sourcing, fabric testing, price and delivery negotiation.


    • Seasonal fabric sourcing and development for the Women’s RTW collection working closely with the design team.
    • Presentation to designers of new fabrics and developments.
    • Manage all communication with mills, suppliers and internal departments.
    • Maintain accurate data including pricing, mill references, compositions, minimums and lead times.
    • Oversee testing of fabrics and maintaining accurate data on PLM.
    • Manage and adhere to the critical path to ensure timely delivery of sampling fabrics.
    • Budget management for all sampling fabric ensuring sampling stays on track.
    • Manage all lab dips and strike off approvals in line with the critical path.
    • Development of special finishes and techniques ensuring suitability for bulk production.
    • Co-ordinate fabric for press samples.
    • Ensure that fabric test reports are compatible with the product developed for production.
    • Calculate fabric required to fulfil production order requirements.
    • Place all fabric orders with suppliers.
    • Book in and track sampling fabrics.
    • Maintain and update fabric library.


    • Fabric Buyer or Fabric Developer with a minimum 3 years’ luxury brand experience specialising in Women’s RTW.
    • Educated to Degree level in Fashion Textiles or Technical discipline.
    • Excellent knowledge of luxury and premium fabrics and mills.
    • Expertise in fabric sourcing and development for Women’s RTW.
    • Proven experience in budget and critical path management working to tight seasonal deadlines.
    • Fluent Italian an advantage.
    • Highly computer literate with experience of PLM or equivalent.
    • Accurate administration skills.
    • Positive team player communicating effectively at all levels internally and externally.
