As Garment Technologist for this leading womenswear supplier you will be working from initial design to gold seal across day to evening dresses, playsuits, jumpsuits, blouses, tops and skirts for the young fashion market working with customers including ASOS, Topshop, Miss Selfridge and River Island. The successful candidate will have at least 4 years experience in young fashion woven soft separates with the ability to carry out pattern amendments on Gerber following fit meetings and mitigate changes at fit stage with buyers educating them in achieving the best outcome whilst protecting costings. Proficient Gerber skills are essential.


  • Inspect, fit and measure garments for fit meetings and issue comments.
  • Make commercial suggestions to proactively resolve any fit, quality or construction issues whilst ensuring cost and margin objectives are achieved.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained in line with brand expectations and supplier manuals.
  • Responsible for the development of garments from design/order stage through to production ensuring they conform to customer expectations.
  • Prepare technical packs for factories (final spec sheet & all photos with make details for the factory).
  • Internally fit product: measure, assess and fit samples on the stand prior to fit sessions, making notes on specifications and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the Gerber pattern cutting team and carry out production pattern amendments following fit meetings owing the style from point of sale to sealer.
  • Organise, attend and participate in customer fit sessions.
  • Ensure accuracy of information and translate comments for factories to easily understand.
  • Prepare and issue graded specs.
  • Analyse test reports and work with factories to ensure that any lower/falling grades are improved to customer commercial standards.
  • Approve fabric-testing results and approve care labels.
  • Monitor and update the critical path for all styles.
  • Access and update online Customer Web Portals in relation to fits and testing.
  • Ensure fabrics and trims meet approved quality and appearance expectations. 
  • Supervise the maintenance of the Technical and Production Photo Library.
  • Continually assess quality levels and construction techniques, ensuring factories adhere to customer specifications, ensure that sealing samples follow retailer guidelines.
  • Update the QA manual as required.
  • Attend meetings with Production team.


  • Garment Technologist with minimum of 4 years UK high street experience, a strong fashion eye and experience working with soft separates: dresses, tops, blouses, skirts, playsuits, jumpsuits.
  • Ability to work through to sign off and Gold Seal.
  • Experience carrying out production pattern amendments on Gerber.
  • Experience creating and issuing graded specs.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively under in a fast paced environment.
  • Proactive with the initiative to ensure the technical and sealing process runs smoothly.
  • Computer literate MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective organisational skills with sound knowledge of the critical path.
