  • Overview

    As Design & Development Assistant for this private label studio you will be working from design concept through to development on a wide range of fashion swimwear ensuring critical path deadlines are achieved. Working closely with the creative director who is skilled in creating on-point ranges for a variety of private label customers, the role will support range building, creation of CAD’s, completion of accurate tech packs, ordering of raw materials and pre-collection development liaising with factories and customers. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, MS Word and Excel, essential.


    This is an entry level role ideally suited to a recent design graduate with a passion for lingerie and/or swimwear and 6-12 months internship experience in a design or development team for a supplier, brand or retailer.


    • Following customer meetings, action all product development requirements gathering any required product and fabric information, amending CAD’s, etc.
    • Assist the PD & Production Assistant in updating and maintaining the range planner and critical path for each customer.
    • Assist in coordinating lab dip and strike-off approvals in line with critical path deadlines.
    • Help prepare the showroom, trend and product presentations for customer meetings.
    • Create and update CAD drawings liaising with the PD & Production Assistant to ensure all garment specifications are accurate using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
    • Create customer mood and development boards working closely with the Creative Director in gathering all relevant information.
    • Work closely with the Creative Director on pre-season and in-season developments, trend analysis, market research and seasonal sales analysis.
    • Research and propose design ideas in line with customer or brand requirements as requested.
    • Prioritisation of daily and weekly workflow to ensure deadlines are achieved.


    • Design Graduate with 6-12 months head office internship experience ideally in lingerie or swimwear working within the design or development department of a supplier, brand or retailer.
    • Basic technical understanding of swimwear fabrics and garment construction to support the design and product development.
    • Highly organised and accurate with excellent attention to detail.
    • Proactive in anticipating the needs of the business.
    • Experience building excellent working relationships.
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work well under pressure to seasonal deadlines.
    • Solution oriented with good problem-solving ability.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Highly proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Microsoft Word and Excel essential with ability to create and amend CAD’s using Illustrator.
