  • Overview

    As Senior Knitwear Designer you will be responsible for the design and development of a balanced jersey and knitwear collection for the women’s mainline working from initial research through to final sample. The collections drop monthly across all channels and the focus of the role is to inject newness whilst refreshing best sellers. The ideal designer will have around 5 years’ experience combining premium high street with contemporary or luxury fashion to include range planning, margin awareness and experience working with Far East factories and yarns. The objective is to create fashion forward innovative commercial collections.


    • Collaborate with the head of design and design director on direction for the forthcoming season.
    • Design of the jersey and knitwear collection across all gauges in line with the seasonal themes.
    • Range planning working closely with the merchandising team to ensure the collection is well coordinated and balanced and meets the requirements of the global market.
    • Global travel for research, sourcing and development trips.
    • Research, sourcing and selection of yarns and trims.
    • Development of seasonal colour palettes in conjunction with the design team.
    • Presentation of the collection at sign off meetings.
    • Ensure the accurate execution of design briefs at all stages of development.
    • Attend fit sessions with technologists as required.
    • Creation of initial spec sheets for sampling.
    • Delegate tasks to junior team members.
    • Ensure critical path deadlines are maintained.


    • Senior Knitwear Designer with around 5 years’ experience in the design of women’s knitwear.
    • Experience in designing for different markets including premium and luxury fashion.
    • Design handwriting should be edgy, innovative and commercial.
    • Experience designing across all gauges essential.
    • Experience sourcing yarns in the Far East and working with Far East factories.
    • Strong technical knowledge in knitwear construction.
    • Excellent hand drawing and illustration skills demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
    • Confident to present in sign-off meetings.
    • Diplomatic and able to work in harmony with all team members and external partners.
    • Experience working effectively to tight deadlines.
