  • Overview

    As Senior Womenswear Designer you will be responsible for designing daywear and occasionwear with emphasis on silhouette, detailing, fabric and surface interest. The role reports into the Design Director with ownership of the design and sampling process, delegating work to 3-4 associate/junior designers and liaising closely with factories to achieve a great vision and product. The successful designer will have a minimum 7 years' experience and a career track record designing contemporary or luxury fashion for a global consumer. This role is an initial 9-12 month maternity cover.

    Responsibilities

    • Seasonal mood, trend and fabric research.
    • Creation of mood boards and colour palettes.
    • Sourcing and development of fabric and trims.
    • Design of aspirational commercial daywear and occasionwear for all phases of the season demonstrating an excellent eye for cut, silhouette, detailing, fabric selection and surface interest.
    • Collaborating on the design of other categories where required.
    • Presentations throughout the season to the design director and senior team.
    • Creation of detailed initial specs to launch styles with factories in the Far East, Turkey and Eastern Europe.
    • Attend fit meetings with technicians for all development samples.
    • Liaise closely with factories and suppliers to ensure accurate translation of product.
    • Work hand-in-hand with junior design team members to brief and oversee work.
    • Ensure samples achieve critical path deadlines working closely with the fabric team, developers and technicians throughout the design and sampling process.
    • Seasonal travel for research, sourcing and development.

    Qualifications

    • Senior Womenswear Designer with a minimum 7 years’ experience and career track record in contemporary or luxury fashion designing for the global market.
    • Experience designing aspirational commercially successful daywear and occasionwear.
    • Strong hand-sketching skills demonstrated through a well curated and presented portfolio.
    • Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator.
    • Hands-on team player experienced in owning and driving the design and sampling process.
    • Ability to perform well under pressure to meet seasonal deadlines.
    • Experience working cross-functionally with fabric, development, technical and merchandising teams.
    • Persuasive and influential with fantastic communication skills able to connect with and inspire people at different levels within the business and with external partners; factories, suppliers and agents.
